Overview
G2 – RPL / Refresher course covers the skills and knowledge required to carry out the risk management processes, including planning, identifying hazards and assessing risk, and developing and implementing risk controls specifically in the resources and infrastructure sectors (specifically the mining and quarrying industries).
This competency must be refreshed every 5 years according to the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Regulation 2017 and Coal Mining Safety and Health Regulation 2017
The course covers the following topics:

- Relevant legislation
- Industry / company documentation (policies and procedures)
- Industry requirements for managing risk
- Carrying out the risk management process
- Supervising the risk management process
- Facilitating group risk assessments
- Hazard identification (including acute and long-term effects on people)
- Risk analysis
- Control measures and action plans
- Identifying unacceptable risk
- Determining adequacy of current risk controls
Entry & Course Requirements
You must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills. You may be required to complete a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) indicator prior to enrolling.
Post successful completion of the theory assessment, you must be able to provide sufficient evidence of prior recognised learning (RPL) in order to be able to gain a competent outcome. Minimum evidence includes, but does not limit the following:

- Work history / CV / position description
- Two (2) samples of risk assessments completed in the workplace
- Third Party Verification (G2 template supplied)
- Previously issued Statement of Attainment (for Refresher pathway)
You will have 60 days to complete the course and provide sufficient evidence.
